SPIDER ROCKETS RELEASE THEIR FIRST OFFICIAL VIDEO, "GOING DOWN," TODAY.

The video release marks new upcoming tour dates for Spider Rockets

After their first foray into video land with “Scream” (a montage of studio production footage and live clips from the group’s dates on Van’s Warped Tour) two years ago, Spider Rockets has picked today, Friday the 13th to release “Going Down.” “You know that something’s going down on Friday the 13th…. It might as well be us!” jokes singer, Helena Cos. The song lyrics play off the sexual and hostile interpretations suggested by the track’s title, often walking a very fine line between the two. “I wanted the listeners to make up their own minds which way I’m leaning when I’m singing, ‘When you come here you’re going down’,” admits Helena.

The video weaves around vintage black and white footage to add a bit of levity into what is otherwise far from a funny song. This idea was inspired by videos from other legendary rock bands like Ratt’s “You’re in Love,” Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills,” and Metallica’s “One,” the latter’s infusion of black and white clips being arguably less humorous.

“We were also on a budget and knew we’d have to fill some frames,” admits guitarist John Nap, “and it’s amazing how much they were asking us to pay for some other common rights ‘free’ footage that never made the video, like clips of Betty Boop and Popeye!”

“Going Down” can be seen starting today on the band’s official YouTube page.

FRIDAY THE 13TH MAY BE A LUCKY DAY FOR SPIDER ROCKETS WITH NEW VIDEO.

“Going Down” marks first official video release by Spider Rockets

New Jersey's Spider Rockets will finally unveil their first official music video for their single, "Going Down," this Friday the 13th. “Going Down” is the follow-up to the group's first foray into the video arena, a combination of production and live clips for their anthem, "Scream." It was the first track recorded for the group's current release Bitten, which went live on YouTube before the album's completion. "Scream" tallied over 45,000 views without a faint whisper of promotion.

"Going Down" has knocked out some national heavyweights on a number of cage-matches at active rock radio including Five Finger Death Punch, Pennywise and Hellyeah. "It's mind blowing that we could take on those guys and win! And win we did... Over and over it seemed," revels a stunned Helena Cos, the group's lead singer.

The video, produced by film graduate, Jason Nappi, was a zero-budget endeavor. Johnny Nap, the group’s lead guitarist, admits, "it started with some real nice guys at an old warehouse in Jersey who let us in as a favor, and a bunch of offbeat common license footage that fit the theme of the song. We didn't want to take ourselves too seriously."

"We heard Van Halen shot ‘Jump’ for just $400!" sets up drummer, Dan Prestup, "...and we thought, we don’t have that kind of money!" laughs bassist, Greg Manning.

Look out for "Going Down" on Friday the 13th of September on http://www.SpiderRockets.com, the group's social sites, select TV screens and third party sites that aren't intimidated by a fierce 5' 1" no bullshit vixen.

Spider Rockets celebrate the release of their new video when they perform Friday the 13th of September at Mojo Main in Newark, Delaware. Log on to http://www.mojomain.com for details.

October tour dates will be released next week.

SPIDER ROCKETS Welcome New Bass Player
Wednesday, 30 January 2013 20:14
SPIDER ROCKETS have officially announced a new addition to their close-knit arachnoid family. Greg Manning has filled a permanent position with the group as bassist and back-up vocalist.

“Greg has been a long time friend of ours and was always a big fan of the band. He’s also a seasoned vocalist, so he’s able to blend nicely with my voice in harmonies, or pull off grittier leads like the male vocal parts in tracks like ‘Gasoline.’ And his hair speaks for itself,” admits lead singer, Helena Cos.

SPIDER ROCKETS will show off the new goods when they debut Greg (The Mane) Manning when they support Trapt at Monirae’s in Pennellville, NY on Friday, February 8th at 8:00 pm. The band supports Trapt again February 10th in Clifton Park, New York, while breaking away Saturday, February 9th for a performance at Downtown Quarterback in Endicott, NY.

SPIDER ROCKETS’s latest release, ‘Bitten,’ was named “Top 10 Hard Rock Album of 2012” by Metal Odyssey.

Artwork and Track Listing Revealed

SPIDER ROCKETS combine contemporary loud rock with classic rock elements. The New Jersey based band travels the sonic spectrum from dark and seductive to energetic to angry, with a dynamic live show and scream-along anthems. Interestingly enough for a band called SPIDER ROCKETS, it is a bit strange that every member of the band is afraid of spiders… although it seems that they may be starting to overcome their fear based on the title of their new album Bitten .

The album artwork and track listing for the new SPIDER ROCKETS release Bitten has just been revealed today. Bitten will be released June 5th in North America.

Lead Singer Helena Cos spoke about Bitten :

“With this record, we made a focused effort to concentrate on the art of song-crafting and streamlining while still rocking hard.... I think the album is all the better for it.”

On Bitten , the band worked once again with producer Eric Rachel in New Jersey. In South Florida, Ryan Sambrook provided additional production and Zach Ziskin mixed the album. From both a compositional and performance standpoint, Bitten is the group’s strongest work to date. Long before completion of the record, an early rendition of one stand-out track “Scream,” garnered over 35,000 hits on YouTube without any promotional efforts and no official release.

SPIDER ROCKETS was one of the last acts famed manager Bill Aucoin (who has managed acts including: Kiss, Lordi, Tantric and others) was contemplating taking on. When Aucoin passed away in 2010, his long time partner and companion, Roman Fernandez, took over day-to-day management of SPIDER ROCKETS. Fernandez did this because he truly believes in the band and wants to make sure SPIDER ROCKETS continue following in the legacy of Aucoin.

Loud rock has always been at the core of the group. Lead singer, Helena Cos, and guitarist, Johnny Nap, started as a duo playing every dive bar in New Jersey and New York City. In between cranking out crowd favorites from AC/DC, Judas Priest, Guns n’ Roses and Metallica, the two would test the waters by infusing some of their original material into the live set. This was a unique setup as the two had an electronic rhythm section and pumped out loud rock, something unheard of in the genre.

The duo soon expanded to a full lineup and began working with Brooklyn-based indie producer, Martin Bisi, best known for recording iconic albums by Sonic Youth, John Zorn, Herbie Hancock (including the Grammy-winning “Rockit”), Helmet and White Zombie. Still in their infancy, the group managed to release their first effort, “Flipped Off,” which officially marked the end of the electronic rock duo format.

The group produced their next release, the self-titled “SPIDER ROCKETS,” closer to home at Trax East in their native New Jersey. With Eric Rachel manning the boards (Atreyu, Black Dahlia Murder, Hatebreed, Misfits, Patti Smith Group, etc.), the group issued a more musically progressive offering. By now, the group had began touring on a national scale and supporting the likes of Pop Evil, Framing Hanley, ran a leg on Van’s Warped Tour and scored a slot at Berlin’s Popkomm Festival.

Now, savvy at the art of song-crafting, Spider Rockets are ready to unleash Bitten upon the masses. Tour dates in support of the album release are expected to be announced shortly.

In fact, I doubt anyone who likes rock or metal will find much to dislike….” Torch, Rock and A Hard Place As with its past releases, the group plans to tour heavily behind this release. Dan, the band’s drummer says, “we can’t wait to have people experience this new CD both recorded and performed live.
